For fear of sounding like my sixty year old father, I won't say that
this month is a "slow as a wet week", but I will say it's pretty damn
dismal. And you know what, bar about one or two it seems that I say
that every month. I just need to get used to the fact that there isn't
a huge market for B-Movie DVD releases over Katherine Heigls latest
rom-com. Yuck, even writing that made me feel dirty.
To
cleanse
yourself of anything or anyone related to Greys Anatomy (except Patrick
Dempsey pre 1991), on the third you can get a DVD Double feature
(shush! I know!) of My Bloody Valentine and April Fools Day. I already
have April Fool's Day, and I know that the version of My Bloody
Valentine is rated, and I'm holding out for an uncut print. Although,
something springs to mind to tell me that the uncut print may have been
destroyed a long time ago, or that could be another movie entirely.
Student Bodies is also out on the 3rd, which warms my heart because
there are still movies coming out on DVD that people thought would
never make it.
Yet
another
double feature (yes I'm a hypocrite, I'm strapped for content),
containing Zapped! and Making the Grade. I don't get it, Zapped has
only been out for like a month, and already they're whoring it out for
more money. Not cool. But apparently this is a "Totally Awesome 80's
Double Feature". I would have preferred Zapped Again, but different
distro companies...sigh.
Adding
to
Code Red's splendiferous library on the 17th is The Dead Pit. Go out
and buy it. Support these guys and they'll keep bringing old movies
back from the dead. Also on the 17th is a swanky new special edition of
So I Married an Axe Murderer on DVD and Blu-Ray. I already have an
older DVD, and don't own a Blu-Ray player, so I'll stick to The Dead
Pit.
Gingerdead
Man 2: Passion of the Crust...on the 24th. I hope that's just a clever
title (and it is clever). Parody movies lately have been making my head
explode. There will never be another "Not Another Teen Movie" so they
should all stop trying. Meet The Spartans is also out this month, but
I'm not adding it to my list and not telling you what date as it's the
most god awful piece of shit I have ever seen and if you want
to
buy it don't come back to my site and I want to punch you in the face.
I downloaded it, and it's not even worth the money I didn't pay for it.
There's a new print of Xanadu out on the 24th as well, which would
explain why I was able to buy it for $4.92 a couple of months back.
They always drop the price when there's a new one coming.
In
Australia (or Straylya if you're a local), there's a couple of Hammer
Horror Classics out on the 2nd. The Abominable Snowman and Brides of
Dracula are both RRP $19.83, so I think I'll pass. If they were budget
priced, I might give them more of a look in. Creepshow III is also out,
but might wait till it drops from its $19.83 release price too. I've
got a rip floating around somewhere and I have heard nothing good, but
Creepshow 1 & 2 are hard acts to follow. Makes you wonder why
they
bothered.
On
the 4th
we get a movie that I only just discovered with Robert Downdey Jnr
& Ralph Macchio called Up the Academy about a bunch of kids
sent to
military school. I'm really looking forward to that one, and it's only
$10. On the 5th, Hedwig and the Angry Inch (which is also one I've been
meaning to see) is also out for $9.92.
The
5th
also brings re-issues of Halloween H20 and Ghost Ship, and a few days
later on the 9th, House, The Gate, and Maximum Overdrive, all budget
priced at $9.92. Already have all except Ghost Ship (which I'm not
interested in) and Maximum Overdrive which I'll probably pick up, if
for nothing else other than my boyfriend's quest to own all Stephen
King movies. I like the new cover art for The Gate though. |
